How to Unclog a Bathroom Sink

A clogged sink can disrupt daily routines. Here’s how to fix it:

Method 1: Use a Plunger

  1. Fill the sink with enough water to cover the plunger’s cup.
  2. Place the plunger over the drain and push down firmly.
  3. Pull up sharply to create suction and dislodge the clog.

Method 2: Clean the Trap

  1. Place a bucket under the sink trap to catch water.
  2. Unscrew the trap and remove debris.
  3. Reattach the trap and run water to check the flow.

Method 3: Use a Drain Snake

  1. Insert the drain snake into the pipe.
  2. Rotate the handle to break up the clog.
  3. Pull the snake out and rinse the pipe with hot water.

Method 4: Pour Boiling Water

  1. Boil water and pour it slowly into the drain.
  2. Repeat if necessary to dissolve minor clogs.

Method 5: Baking Soda and Vinegar

  1. Pour 1/2 cup baking soda into the drain.
  2. Add 1/2 cup vinegar and wait 15 minutes.
  3. Flush with hot water.
